Lycopene is from a family of compounds called carotenoids, found in tomatoes, carrots, watermelons etc, which exhibit antioxidant properties that prevent tumor development. A dietary supplement that has all these substances is a good way to ward off prostate cancer.
Women are most vulnerable to weakness when pregnant, more so, the working woman who has to handle stress at the work front and consequently needs nourishment not just for herself but also for the baby. If the fetus is not nourished by the mother’s food intake, the nutrients for the fetus will be taken from the mother’s body, which leads to the mother becoming anemic and deficient in calcium that affects hair and nail growth. Fluid intake should be frequent and moderate exercises help to tone the leg muscles and keep the circulation going. Refined foodstuffs, sugars and colas should be avoided. Whole grain and fruits are excellent for women who are expecting, menstruating, are on oral contraceptives or are showing signs of general fatigue. Essential nutrients that may not be replenished by their daily food intake are best obtained by a supplement.
Of men, women and children, it is children who are most vulnerable, mainly because of their poor food habits and junk food that they eat. Children are bundles of energy that cannot be reined in and the company they keep along with their hygiene habits cannot always be monitored. Energy that should go into the building of the tissues and cells gets utilized in fighting ailments like common cold and stomach upsets which are basically hygiene related and the effects of pollutants in the atmosphere. Therefore proper nutritional intake that builds up their immune system and supplements their diet is very important. A good supplement will have the right balance of nutrients that a growing child needs.
