Six Weeks to a Beautiful Body
They say “don’t judge a book by its covers”, but let us be honest if you look and smell good it does do wonders to your confidence and personality. If you disagree, think back to your last bad hair day and about your disposition on that day.
Knowing that your face is glowing and that you look fit and healthy raises spirits on the most exhausting of days. And all that you really need to do is give your self some much needed Tender Loving Care on a daily basis. We are taught to be kind and considerate to others, so why not to ourselves?
It would be incomplete to talk of beauty only on external level; try a more holistic approach and you will find it doing wonders for the way you look and feel. Treat your mind and body well and they too will return that care in the same coin.
Caring for your body
What you eat reflects on your face and body, so make subtle and gradual changes in your diet. Some very basic changes to your eating and living habits will do wonders to your mind and body.
Drink a glass of water as soon as you wake up in the morning, followed by another ten glasses through the day.
-
Eat at least two fruits a day.
-
Do not skip breakfast at any cost.
-
Start your meal with a serving of salad.
-
Adding a glass of milk to your daily diet gives a boost to the health of your bones and nails.
-
Eat a Vitamin A rich diet that helps rebuild skin and cleanses it from the inside leaving it glowing. So add plenty of carrots and papayas to your meals.
-
Stretch and flex your muscles as you begin to start your day and are getting ready for a shower.
-
If you don’t have the time or energy for a daily workout take a 30 minute brisk walk daily. If you can’t make time even for this then split your exercise into two walks amounting to the same duration.
Regular care of your body makes maintenance easier. Basic body care is an extension of basic skin care but since it has different needs from your facial skin the treatment required is a bit different. The basic steps for your body care are:
-
Exfoliate at least twice a week to remove dry, dead skin.
-
Cleansing the perspiration, dirt and grime that have gathered through the day.
-
Moisturizing the body skin is essential to body care since it has less sebaceous glands than facial skin, thereby making it prone to dryness. Restoring the lost moisture to the skin ensures that it stays soft and supple.
For your bath choose a shower gel that is rich with natural extracts and vitamins such as Aloe Vera, Green Tea extract and use a good shower brush to give a refreshing scrub. Rinse well, pat dry and apply a body lotion that suits your skin. If you have a dry skin try an intensive hydrating lotion enriched with vitamin E. At the end of the day before you go to bed treat your hands with a hand moisturiser with vitamin E and Aloe Vera to help heal skin, smoothen and soften it.
For your tired feet use a foot lotion that pampers them; use one that has peppermint and Aloe Vera to give your feet a tingling freshness and protection. Once a week use a foot cleanser that exfoliates and nourishes your feet. For a natural scrub for your body try adding sugar to some olive or baby oil and apply to body and scrub, then use a bath gel and brush as you would usually.
A facial mask when used twice a week exfoliates the skin, leaving it glowing. Rub in a teaspoon of the fruit pulp you are eating that day, leave on for 10-15 minutes and wash. Moisturise well and use a sunscreen that has an appropriate SPF value. Before you turn in for the day ensure that you have removed ever bit of make up and then cleanse your face and moisturise.
Caring for your mind
For at least 30 minutes in the day do something you enjoy and relaxes you. On a daily basis read something that makes you smile, even if it is just the comic strips and subscribe to a website that sends you an inspirational story everyday. Finally choose a subject that you know little or nothing about and then over the next six weeks learn as much as you can about it. Like the body it is important to stretch and flex the mind too.
