Foot Care Tips for All Seasons

Any woman will tell you the best way is to make an impressive entrance into any event - wear the right shoes. Women all over the world know that the right shoes can give you the confidence to walk a little taller, hold your head a little higher, and secure a stronger toehold on the ladder of success. They also will give a look of disdain if they glance down to see your newest “strappy” sandals and discover you don’t follow proper foot care procedures. Calluses, dry skin, dirty toenails, and a noticeable odor are common foot problems which are the faux pas to set you back a step on the stairway to style. But, with the right foot care products, and the right attitude, you’ll get that bounce back into your step in no time.

Start with an Exfoliant
The first step to effective foot care is to make sure to exfoliate on a regular basis. Keep an exfoliating brush in your shower to use during your regular bathing routine. A brush which will be used on such a regular basis will need to be a quality brush, designed to hold up over time. Choose a brush with exfoliating bristles. Also keep an exfoliating foot scrub on hand for weekly intensive foot care sessions. This exfoliation process will keep your feet smooth and your skin soft.

Use a Good Moisturizer
Once you have removed the dead skin from your feet, you might feel ready to slip into those heels and show off your fancy footwork, but wait. You should always follow exfoliating foot care with a hands-on approach. Use a specially designed foot lotion to moisturize your feet, bringing out the softness of the new skin (Stanley Cool-a-Ped Foot Treatment). If your feet have been especially dry or rough, they may require something stronger, a quality salve or balm (Stanley Cocoa Butter Hydrating Cream).

What’s a Cake without the Frosting?
You’ll make your best entrance into any room if your feet are not just soft but are also sparkling. Take some time each day to pay attention to your toes. Scrub dirty nails with a brush, then, use a nail file to shape your nails. Follow with the perfect shade of nail polish. You are ready for any footwear and any occasion.

Don’t Worry, We Won’t Tell
There’s one embarrassing foot secret that rarely is talked about, and yet it’s a problem for many people - foot odor. Walking around in gorgeous shoes can cause feet to sweat and then to smell. Instead of shying away or trying to hide the smell with socks, you can use the right products to make the stench disappear. Foot cleanser and foot deodorant spray are excellent options for freshening your feet in just seconds (Stanley Cool-a-Ped Feet TreatMint Foot Spray). Be careful, however, as some foot sprays use alcohol to provide a cool sensation. This is not good foot care, as it removes essential skin oils which protect your feet. Instead, use a foot spray with mint – it provides the same invigorating sensation with a soothing aroma, and doesn’t harm your skin.

A Word to the Wise
A city girl on a budget knows there are ways to cut corners and save a few cents. She will also tell you that more important than saving money is knowing when to splurge. Foot care is an important part of your daily hygiene routine. More importantly, foot care is an important part of your self image. Any self-respecting shoe shopper knows that self-image is not where to scrimp.

Foot care products can be purchased in almost any store, from the nail polish remover picked up at the gas station to the expensive bottle of foot cream ordered from France. You will have to figure out exactly what type of budget works for you, but before you go looking at the clearance rack of the local beauty bargain store, you should take a look at your feet and consider what they’re worth. You often get what you pay for with foot care, and you can usually use smaller amounts of a high-end product to achieve better results than you would with larger amounts of a low-end product. So go ahead, stick those smooth and sexy toes into those strappy sandals - and don’t be afraid to strut your stuff.
